Lead Engineer

We’re looking for a new Lead Engineer for our George e-commerce pod. This is a key role, working closely with our agile teams, delivery managers, product managers and architects to ensure that our services are robust, scalable, and secure. The role has broad oversight over coding standards and tooling, deployment strategy, documentation, observability, and compliance.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a massive greenfield digital transformation project as Asda separates from Walmart and rebuilds its e-commerce solution from the ground up. We have scope to reimagine our ways of working; incorporating industry best practices to reduce time-to-market for new features and respond to our evolving customer needs with greater agility.

The successful Lead Engineer will have:

• Experience building scalable solutions according to software architecture and design principles.
• Strong knowledge of software development best practices, including code reviews, testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Proven experience leading software development teams in the delivery of complex projects.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and cloud-based solutions.
