Responsibilities:
We are looking for Evening and Weekend Library Assistants to work in the historic Bodleian Old Library and Radcliffe Camera. These buildings house Humanities collections in English, History, Classics, Philosophy, Theology and Reference as well as the History Faculty Library and the Bodleian’s Main Enquiry Desk.
You will undertake a range of library duties including answering readers’ and visitors’ questions, issuing / returning items, invigilation, book replacing, supporting the book delivery process if necessary and ensuring safe evacuation of the reading rooms. The role involves lifting, carrying and shelving books, and pushing trolleys.
These are permanent, part-time positions. The working patterns available are:
- 0.1096 FTE – Fortnightly Saturday (9:45am – 6:15pm)
- 0.226 FTE – Fortnightly Saturday (9:45am – 6:15pm) and weekly Monday (5pm-9:15pm)
- 0.226 FTE – Fortnightly Saturday (9:45am – 6:15pm) and weekly Monday (5pm-9:15pm)
- 0.226 FTE – Fortnightly Sunday (10.45am – 7.15pm) and weekly Thursday (5pm – 9:15pm)
- 0.3425 FTE – Fortnightly Sunday (10.45am – 7.15pm) and weekly Monday and Wednesday (5pm – 9:15pm)
