LIFEGUARD | GLENFIELD POOL AND LEISURE CENTRE

Working as a lifeguard is an opportunity for you to make a real difference in the community. Lifeguards are the key to ensuring a safe environment for our customers and are essential to the successful running of our aquatic facilities.
Pool lifeguards are observant, patient, and good with people. Their skill set means they have the confidence to act in a quick, responsible, and calm way.

As a lifeguard, you are responsible for:

  • Provide a safe environment through proactive supervision and positive interaction with customers
  • Educate and enforce pool rules
  • Respond to any First Aid emergencies
  • Ensure pool and surrounds are clean at all times

HE KŌRERO MŌU: ABOUT YOU

We are looking for people of age who are strong swimmers, dedicated to helping others and can commit to full-time work.

To become a lifeguard with Auckland Council as the first step you will need to be able to pass this test, please only apply for this position if you feel you can do this (or could do this with training).

  • Swim 200m in less than 6 minutes (Any stroke, or a mixture of strokes, can be used)
  • Swim 50m breaststroke
  • Swim 25m sidestroke
  • Retrieve objects from the deepest part of the pool (depth varies across centres)
  • Tread water for 5 minutes

Do not worry if you do not have a PLPC certification; we will provide ALL training for you free of charge and pay you to attend the training.
