Enhanced Treatment Team (ETT)
We are currently looking for an 8 PA Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to work within our Enhanced Treatment Team (ETT) in Harrow CAMHS (CNWL) for one year to cover maternity leave.
This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, innovative and dedicated doctor with creative ideas for service development, keen to work with dynamic and passionate consultant colleagues and MDT clinicians and to collaborate with paediatricians, schools, childrens services, Tier 4 services and allied health professionals.
You will be working in a team with two higher trainees (St Mary’s higher training scheme in child psychiatry), a core trainee and two specialty doctors.

This post provides maternity cover for one year.
This 8 sessions post is within the Enhanced Treatment Team (ETT). The post holder will provide psychiatric assessments and reviews and oversee pharmacological treatment and, together with the substantive consultant in the ETT, will provide leadership with regard to psychiatric assessment, risk assessment and management of young people referred to and managed within the ETT.
This team carries a complex caseload within which many of the young people have recurrent self-harm and suicidal behaviour with emerging borderline personality difficulties and the therapeutic work of the team is underpinned by a DBT approach. The postholder will also contribute to the daytime duty consultant rota as well as the CAMHS OOH consultant rota.

Clinical Work
To provide psychiatry leadership to the ETT team
Responsibility for ensuring other members of the MDT are supported in identifying the symptoms and level of risk that require the involvement of psychiatry
Direct clinical involvement and oversight of cases held by other clinicians in the MDT, supporting the MDT with regard to comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and management planning, guided by the CAMHS care pathways and clinical model.
Contribute to psychiatric assessment (including new initial assessments).
Contribute to multidisciplinary assessments and management planning.
Liaison with NHS England, Commissioners and Tier 4 services when referral to Tier 4 is indicated.
Liaison with Tier 4 services and contribution to CRAFT and CPA meetings.
Contribution to the daytime duty rota at Harrow CAMHS, supporting the Urgent Care Team, duty professional and junior doctor with regard to assessment and management of emergencies at Northwick Park Hospital, triage of referrals, urgent telephone enquiries and assessments etc.
To maintain accurate and up to date clinical records.
To contribute to the collection and monitoring of Clinical Outcome data across the service to assist delivery of KPIs.
To complete and contribute to the completion of Serious Untoward Incident Reports as required.
Participation in the development of clinical protocols as required.
Participation in the training and supervision of other members of the multidisciplinary team as required.
Supervision: The post holder will participate in fortnightly case based discussions with other consultant and junior medical colleagues.
Maintaining up to date Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Other clinical and management duties
Contribution to the daytime duty consultant rota (approximately 7 days in 6 weeks) at Harrow CAMHS offering consultation to the duty professional and junior doctor on duty as needed with regard to triage of referrals, urgent duty calls, telephone enquiries and urgent assessments. The duty consultant is expected to attend the ‘duty huddle’ at the start of the day (9am) and at 4pm on their duty day. Harrow CAMHS has its own urgent care team (Brent/Harrow Urgent Care Team), with their own consultant, and they assess emergency presentations at Northwick Park Hospital.
Providing consultant support to the Urgent Care Team (when the UCT consultant is on leave/unavailable).
To provide Responsible Clinician and Section 12(2) responsibilities under the Mental Health Act (1983) to CAMHS patients where necessary or appropriate.
To maintain accurate and up to date clinical records.
To contribute to the collection and monitoring of Clinical Outcome data across the service to assist delivery of KPIs.
The postholder will be part of the Harrow CAMHS senior management team (SMT) and will attend the monthly SMT meetings.
Clinical supervision of junior medical staff and other members of the MDT.
The post holder will participate in fortnightly case-based discussions with other consultants and junior medical colleagues.
Participation in the development of clinical protocols as required.
To offer teaching to colleagues at the acute hospital, CAMHS colleagues, trainees and medical students.
Maintaining up to date Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Contribution to the CAMHS OOH consultant rota
