Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, industrial relations, labour relations or related field, plus a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation is required. A minimum of five (5) years’ of directly related experience in labour and employee relations, preferably in a public sector union environment, including experience overseeing a team of professional employees. We are looking for someone with extensive knowledge of employment law, labour law, human rights legislation, and collective agreements, paired with exceptional negotiation and mediation skills, a proven track record in resolving grievances, a strong ability to build and enhance strategic partnerships, and excellent written skills for drafting contract and policy language.
Responsibilities:
The Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Manager, Employee Relations.
The Manager, Employee Relations is responsible for the effective management of labour and employee relations under the guidance of the Chief Human Resources Officer and in alignment with the Regional District of Nanaimo’s (RDN) People Plan. The Manager will work collaboratively with other human resources department staff, organizational leaders, employees and union representatives to facilitate case file and program management that supports RDN’s strategic objectives, while also facilitating a respectful work environment, fostering a culture of belonging, enhancing a diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible workplace experience, and promoting employee productivity and engagement.
