QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Bioinformatics, or a related field. A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in research informatics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in leading cross functional teams in the area of health data informatics.
  • Strong understanding of informatics principles, data management, and quality assurance.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools used in research informatics.
  • Knowledge of neuroscience informatics and Common Data Elements (CDEs) is an asset.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Ability to oversee multiple projects and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Manager, Informatics collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to optimize the Brain-CODE platform development and services and maintain academic, industry, and institutional partnerships. In this role, you will support data producers in compliance with technical, regulatory, and governance requirements, manage the informatics operations team, and ensure data agreements, ethics, privacy, and sharing processes are adhered to. Additionally, you will manage service providers, ensure platform security and privacy, plan Brain-CODE features development, and contribute to the Ontario Brain Institute’s neuroinformatics strategy and objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage data producer data collection, linkages, collaborations, and sharing initiatives to support their research and data milestones.
  • Manage data sharing agreements to ensure all agreements for data collection and collaborations are in place, such as OBI Participation Agreements and Schedule Cs, Zone 1 agreements, and Zone 3 agreements.
  • Ensure data are processed in compliance with the OBI informatics governance policies and the Data Quality Framework and made available for access on a long term basis in Brain-CODE.
  • Manage the Brain-CODE platform and services strategic plan, development plans and service providers to achieve informatics objectives.
  • Oversee standard operating procedures (SOPs), Common Data Elements (CDEs) and Data Quality operations and development with the informatics team to ensure a high level of data integrity, interoperability, and quality is achieved.
  • Oversee informatics operations team training and skills development, by implement training programs to enhance the skills and competencies of the informatics team.
  • Ensure data ethics, privacy and security practices, procedures are in place and oversee platform privacy and security.
  • Support Brain-CODE budget planning and related funding activities.
  • Support establishing and managing partnerships as well as promote OBI informatics activites via conferences, publications, etc. to advance OBI’s neuroinformatics objectives.
  • Work closely with other OBI teams to support their objectives, including activities related to the Centre for Analytics, research, business development and partnerships, and knowledge translation.
