Description:

Job Title: Manager, Lodge
Location: Vancouver, BC
Work Model: In-person role
Salary Band: 6 ($52,500 - $87,500 CAD)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years management experience within hotel/ hospitality industry, experience within a healthcare setting considered an asset.
  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or related field considered an asset
  • Experience working with staff and volunteers
  • Experience working with multi-barriered clients including but not limited to those with physical/mental health issues, vulnerable populations and clients of diverse cultures and ages.
  • Change management and or process improvement experience.
  • Experience within health care and/or hospitality industry.
  • Experience using client-centered approach to operations.
  • Demonstrates high emotional intelligence- experience managing complex environments and frail clients
  • Demonstrates ability to multi-task
  • Innovative, with a keen eye for process improvement, and out of the box solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders
  • Ability to manage operational budgets
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Accessible, able to work flexible work schedule, including night shifts and on-call hours.
  • Knowledge of facility (building) operations with respect to regular maintenance, troubleshooting and resolution of problems.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including team building, problem and conflict resolution.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and be prepared to develop skills in internal database systems (RDP)

Responsibilities:

ACCOUNTABLE FOR PROVIDING LEADERSHIP AND SUPPORT TO LODGE STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS

  • Engages and motivates a committed group of staff and volunteers
  • Develops and fosters a strong team environment
  • Develops and delivers training and on-going education to staff and volunteers
  • Provides mentorship, coaching and motivation to staff through the performance management process which includes annual goal setting, performance evaluations and continuous feedback. Conducts regular 1:1 meetings and staff team meetings.
  • Identifies staffing needs and collaborates with Human Resources in the hiring of lodge staff.
  • Responsible for creating and monitoring schedules for a 24-hour facility. Ensure the shift schedule design for staff is fair, feasible and sustainable. Establishes contingency plans to mitigate staffing challenges.
  • In consultation with volunteer engagement team, the Manager, Lodge is responsible for implementing volunteer management framework.
  • Implements change management principles when required in engaging workforce and/or implementing transformational projects
  • Engages regularly with contract staff to ensure efficient service delivery. Monitors, evaluates and offers feedback regarding services provided by contract staff.
  • Foster a working environment that highlights the talents and strengths of each team member.
  • Ensure that hiring practices are inclusive.
  • Encourage growth and development opportunities for all team members.
  • Champion CCS as a hero in the face of cancer.

ACCOUNTABLE FOR A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR PEOPLE WITH CANCER AND THEIR CAREGIVERS WHILE THEY UNDERGO TREATMENT.

  • Responsible for client experience - from check in to departure and beyond as they transition back to their communities.
  • Contributes to national risk management measures, health and safety standards and adapts for local environment.
  • Responds promptly to concerns of lodge clients, mediating a satisfactory response to concerns and implements action plans to avoid reoccurrence of similar issues.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to related support programs.
  • Responsible for managing wig and breast prosthesis and other support services at the lodge.
  • Identifies and plans wellness and peer-based activities for clients to improve their quality of life.

ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT, ADMINISTRATION AND DAY-TO-DAY OPERATION OF LODGE.

  • Participates in the departments integrated planning process and operationalizes key priorities for the lodge setting.
  • Develops and manages the Lodge budget. Oversees all expenditures within budgetary guidelines
  • Accountable for data quality and data management, including privacy and consents, to ensure accurate reporting on lodge occupancy, finances and operations.
  • In partnership with other departments, establishes and maintains business continuity plans
  • Works to improve reporting, and operational efficiencies
  • Ensures housekeeping and kitchen services meet current health and safety standards and that food services are consistent with CCS Healthy Eating Initiatives
  • Responsible for facility (building) operations in coordination with Facilities Manager. Ensures the preventative maintenance plans are executed efficiently.
  • Conducts site audits with relevant stakeholders
  • Responsible for procurement of services and material inventory necessary for building operations and resident care as per CCS purchasing policy and in consultation with Manager, Facilities.
  • Develops and implements risk management policies including disaster planning, pandemic plans etc., and ensures that all Lodge workforce are regularly practiced in non-medical health and safety procedures.
  • Oversees compliance to lodge policies
  • Assists as appropriate with prospect development and donor stewardship.
