Description:
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology) or Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience
- Five years of experience coordinating research and/or evaluation projects; 2 years of supervisor/management experience
- Experience with oversight of departmental responsibilities, including project management, budgeting, managing multiple projects
- Strong leadership and people management skills, knowledge of leading from a trauma-informed approach
- Knowledge of sector promising practices, research & evaluation methodologies
- Experience conducting research using qualitative and quantitative methodologies
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written; comfortable with public speaking
- Experience using qualitative and quantitative data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, Nvivo)
- Knowledgeable in knowledge mobilization and data visualization
- Knowledge of youth homelessness, sex trafficking and/or front-line work is an asset

Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible for various tasks including:
- In collaboration with Director of DRE, develops annual research and evaluation activities that are congruent with strategic plan and departmental strategy
- Responsible for overseeing the execution of all research and evaluation projects in congruence with CHT values and ethical principles
- In collaboration with the Director of DRE, creates relevant policies and procedures related to conducting program evaluations and primary research
- Ensures all research and evaluation frameworks, methodologies, analysis, written reports, and knowledge documentation are executed at a high level of excellence
- Hiring, supervision, evaluation and termination of staff using a trauma-informed approach
- Regular supervision and development of direct reports
- Responsible for ensuring that human resource practices are consistent with agency policies and compliant with relevant legislation
- Facilitates team meetings for research and evaluation sub-team
- Identifies training needs of staff and recommends training sessions for staff to engage in professional development activities as appropriate
- Supervises the quarterly development and dissemination of KPIO dashboards for each CHT program
- Work with Directors, Program Managers, and program staff to generate recommendations for ongoing improvement based on evaluation findings
- Continually seek to facilitate a learning culture, and improve CHT’s data gathering and analysis capacity, collaborating with internal staff and external partners to integrate best practices and effective tools
- Conducts primary research related to issues of youth homelessness and sex trafficking
- Development and submission of ethic protocols to the university Research Ethics Board
- Research best practices on policy and practice across the sector as needed and make recommendations based on these
- Examines viability of grant opportunities pertaining to research and evaluation
- Completes funding proposals for academic and government funders of research and evaluation
- Completes reports for funders as required for research grants
- Works with Development Department and Program Directors to identify gaps in services, identify promising practices, create and execute evaluation frameworks and indicators to secure funding from donors, government and foundations, including completing sections on grants
- Present research and evaluation findings internally at CHT as well as externally at relevant conferences and other forums (e.g., webinars)
- Development and publication of research reports and academic articles
- Active engagement with the Program Management Team (attending meetings and working on projects as needed)
- Effectively manages partnerships and relationships with external researchers, academics, government personnel, funders, community partners
