The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will lead and manage the manufacturing engineering team to ensure the efficient and effective operation of production processes. This role involves overseeing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of very high-volume manufacturing processes, ensuring that products are produced safely, cost-effectively, and to the highest quality standards. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will work closely with production, quality, and other departments to achieve the company’s production goals and objectives.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field).
  • 8-15 years of experience in manufacturing engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing principles, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience in managing engineering projects and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, project management tools, and ERP systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in firearms, automotive or aerospace industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations relevant to the company’s products.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Team Management:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of manufacturing engineers and technicians.
  • Lead the tool room technicians.
  • Assign tasks, set priorities, and monitor progress to ensure timely and accurate completion of projects.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and innovation within the engineering team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and develop team members’ skills and capabilities.
  • Process Development & Improvement:
  • Oversee the design, development, and optimization of manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles and other process improvement methodologies to drive operational excellence.
  • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and inefficiencies through process analysis and redesign.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability and scalability.
  • Project Management:
  • Manage engineering projects from estimation through implementation, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the required specifications.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of new processes and technologies.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Interact with Customers and sub-tier suppliers to resolve technical issues.
  • Equipment & Technology Management:
  • Oversee the selection, installation, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Ensure that equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and operated to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies and automation solutions to enhance production capabilities.
  • Quality Assurance & Compliance:
  • Work closely with the quality department to ensure that manufacturing processes meet or exceed quality standards.
  • Implement process controls and documentation to maintain compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Collaborate with production, quality, R&D, and other departments to ensure alignment on production goals and objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management to provide updates on engineering activities, project status, and potential challenges.
  • Serve as a liaison between engineering and other departments to facilitate smooth operations and problem resolution.
