We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Technician position for our Cambridge, Ontario.

JOB SUMMARY

The Mechanical Maintenance Technician - Level 1 works in a team environment, under the direction of the Lead Technician. They complete equipment assessment and refurbishment tasks. They will learn to document all refurbishment tasks per our procedures and MITP’s. In addition to hands-on tool assessment, the LV 1 Technician will be introduced to BWXT’s proprietary Waterlancing software for site use. The LV 1 Technician will deploy to customer job sites (Bruce Power, Ontario Power Generation, New Brunswick Power & Cernavoda) as required for outages.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Undertake moderately complex technical assignments that are part of an ongoing engineering program in support of activities such as production, operation of equipment and systems, under direct supervision.
  • Review and understand Waterlancing operating procedures and technicians qualifications.
  • During project execution responsible for setting up and maintaining equipment.
  • As a junior technician, you will work as a part of a larger team, and your work will be closely supervised.
  • Typically can be cross utilized to support Visual Inspection.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Post-secondary education in technical field is preferred.
  • 1 - 2 years experice in a related field would be a preference.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Field projects requires shift work and extended hours.
  • Extensive site work is required (50% - 60%).
  • Previous experience at a Nuclear Facility (BP, OPG, NBP) is an asset.
  • Automation/ control system knowledge is an asset.
  • Displays technical competence. Understands the objectives of professional staff but requires direction from Lead Technicians and Supervisors. Technical assistance is provided by Engineers.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance in order to gain access to nuclear power plant sites.
  • Must be willing to work in a radiological environment.
