Description:

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Medical and Business HR Officer to join our friendly and dynamic HR team. This apprenticeship not only offers a competitive salary but also the chance to gain valuable hands-on experience and develop new skills, all while being supported in achieving a professional qualification. We are seeking an experienced HR professional with outstanding interpersonal skills looking to gain a broad range of experience in a vibrant and fast paced specialist Trust.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work closely with the Medical Staffing Lead in providing a precise, timely, and customer-focused Medical Staffing/HR Administration service to Trust employees and other clients where applicable. The ideal candidate will be adept at building strong working relationships, resolving queries related to staff leave entitlements, sickness absence, and other employment matters, as well as offering guidance on a variety of HR policies and procedures.
This is a varied and exciting role which requires the candidate to have a strong background in administration, thrive in a busy environment, exhibit a compassionate demeanour, and possess a keen attention to detail.
The successful candidate will be based at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital with flexibility for hybrid working.
As the first point of contact for all HR-related matters and employee or manager enquiries, you will provide guidance on a variety of HR policies and procedures, including equal opportunities, workforce management, and terms and conditions. You will address queries related to staff leave entitlements, sickness absences, and other employment relations concerns.
Your role will involve the daily production of “live” rotas for Tier 1 doctors, ensuring the effective and efficient deployment of the medical workforce. This includes reallocating medical staff as needed to maintain service provision and meet training requirements, as determined by Clinical Leads. Additionally, you will manage HR/Medical Staffing central email inboxes, taking appropriate actions or forwarding messages to relevant colleagues when necessary. You will also ensure compliance with departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and stay updated on trust policies and procedures.
You will become part of a supportive and welcoming team that will assist you in settling in and familiarising yourself with the Trust and the teams you will support. We regularly come together to maintain strong communication, foster collaborative working, and share best practices.
As the largest single site specialist heart and chest hospital in the UK, we, at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, have a clear vision ‘to be the best cardiothoracic integrated healthcare organisation’.
We provide specialist services in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, respiratory medicine both in the hospital and out in the community.
We serve a catchment area of 2.8 million people, spanning Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man, and increasingly we receive referrals from outside these areas for highly specialised services such as aortics.
Our reputation for strong performance is important in delivering the best care for our patients and high quality clinical services. This is underpinned by a culture of research and innovation, delivered in modern estate and our encouragement of flexible working in a variety of forms.
