How you make a difference:
The Mental Health Professional provides clinical services to individuals under the direction of the MH Coordinator, Clinical Supervisor, or MH Director. They offer mental health consultation and training to facility staff, ensuring comprehensive care and support. The ideal candidate is skilled in both direct patient care and collaborative staff education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct clinical and consultation services, including individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and adherence to professional ethics and standards of relevant organizations (e.g., NASW, APA).
- Complete clinical service reports, diagnostic evaluations, and relevant clinical documentation in a timely and professional manner, ensuring accountability and adherence to facility policies and procedures.
- Offer consultation services to institutional screening committees, institutional staff, and provide mental health follow-up and support for persons served, including those in restrictive housing and reception and diagnostic units.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service training programs, and specialized clinical services or program development activities, ensuring professional growth and collaboration with supervisors and department staff.
- Maintain accountability for services through accurate and timely recording of activities and participation in the Quality Improvement program.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a behavioral/social science field from an accredited college or university.
Experience
- Coursework and professional experience that indicates knowledge of mental health counseling, group and individual psychotherapy, diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, psychological assessment techniques, crisis intervention, and mental health consultation.
Licenses/Certifications
- LSW, LMSW, LPC, or similar licensure in the state from the appropriate state licensing board; Must maintain CPR certification and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required.
