Salary: $83,143 - $100,346
The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene is seeking a qualified applicant to fill a full-time Mental Health Program Specialist II position in the New York City Field Office of the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH). The incumbent will be assigned to the Community Engagement and Strategic Planning Unit within the Field Office and based on assignments, will be required to travel within New York State, including possible overnight travel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in one of the major fields of study as follows: psychology, organizational psychology, counseling and community psychology, social work, nursing, recreation therapy, rehabilitation counseling, special education, child and family studies, mental health counseling, psychoanalysis, marriage and family therapy, creative arts therapy, public administration, public policy, hospital administration, health administration, public health, sociology, or criminal justice; AND one year of clinical experience/professional administrative experience in a mental health field .
- A master’s degree in one of the major fields of study indicated above may be substituted for the required experience above.

Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Director of Community Stakeholder Engagement and Strategic Planning, and in close collaboration with both the Adult and Children and Family Services Directors of the New York City Field Office, the incumbent will perform the role of Cross Systems Coordinator to assist in the development of truly responsive preventive and crisis stabilization systems with an array of residential, support and treatment programs. Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide oversight and monitoring of the newly established Critical Time Intervention (CTI) teams.
- Ensure coordination among the many stakeholders in the complex behavioral health system in NYC including the Local Governmental Unit (LGU), Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), Department of Homeless Services (DHS), Administration for Children’s Services (ACS), NYC Health + Hospitals, community providers, and others.
- Ensure appropriate program implementation, oversight and monitoring, and technical assistance to the new CTI teams and participate in the NYCFO subregional Planning and Implementation Collaboratives that are being established to ensure that the CTI teams are performing well.
- Provide oversight and monitoring to ensure that the delivery of services is consistent with programmatic objectives and fostering/encouraging collaborations/partnerships between the CTI teams and stakeholders within the community.
- Participate in special projects as assigned.
