JOB DESCRIPTION
OceanaGold currently has a unique opportunity for a highly experienced and motivated Superintendent – Mine Planning to join our Didipio Mine in the Philippines. This role is crucial in supporting the delivery of technical support to the mine operations spanning mine engineering, business improvement, long-term mine planning, short-term mine planning and survey whilst ensuring adherence to the highest standards of health, safety, environmental and social performance.
This is an amazing opportunity to leverage from your extensive operational experience in underground international hard rock mine, leading technical mine improvement initiatives that will improve safety and maximize value and in doing so have a material impact on our flagship Didipio operations. This role will preferably be FIFO from Australia. A strong background in operational excellence, executing innovative solutions and continually improving underground technical performance will ensure your success in this challenging and highly rewarding senior role.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree qualification in Mining Engineering or relevant discipline.
- Sound technical and operational understanding of highly mechanised long-hole open stoping with paste backfill mine operating practices and the impact of the mining operations on value chain outcomes.
- Extensive experience in mining technical and operational roles
- Demonstrated successful relationship and stakeholder engagement capabilities as well as the ability to lead technical and/or operational teams to execute challenging projects autonomously.
- Well-developed technical writing and presentation skills for capturing and communicating project improvement initiatives.
- In-depth understanding of engineering and a track record of generating practical and innovative solutions to multi-faceted technical challenges.
- Competency with CAD and mine scheduling packages (desirable - Deswik)
- High levels of enthusiasm for the work with high-performance goals for self and team
- Demonstrated abilities to lead and work effectively within culturally diverse workforce settings

Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance to a specialist team of Mining professionals.
- Advising and assisting the management team in the development of strategies, priorities and schedules, including annual budgets, monthly forecasts, short-term mine planning and Life of Mine (LOM) planning.
- Support and lead technical teams to deliver high-quality outcomes consistent with mining principles and practical application in an environment that is focused on integration, performance, and continuous improvement.
- Develop, maintain and ensure leading practices (operational and technical) are incorporated into studies, projects and operations.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching and mentoring of professionals to develop individual and team capabilities.
- Actively contribute to underground mining improvement and innovation initiatives (including identification, development and implementation)
- Provide leadership and guidance that ensures the operation delivers to plan in respect of production, mine development, cost per ounce/cash flow while maintaining regulatory compliance.
- Ensuring timely, accurate reporting to the Technical Services Manager and other internal and external parties
