JOB DESCRIPTION
This model development manager will lead a team in addition to individual projects to develop models used for asset/liability management. Models can encompass a wide range from industry-level balance sheet forecasting to security risk sensitivity analysis and yield curve modeling. This role will be responsible for providing oversight for a team in the form of ideas and/or code for analysts to develop or maintain or developing conceptual framework for models. Most models will be developed in python but use of other languages such as SQL might be required. Explaining banking concepts or modeling concepts to analysts in order to foster understanding may also be required.
The model development manager will set project timelines, deliverables and be the main point of contact with third-parties such as model risk analysts and auditors. The role will require the ability to explain complex items in a straight forward manner.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, and 10 or more years of relevant experience
OR
- MA/MS in a quantitative field, and six or more years of related experience
OR
- PhD in a quantitative field, and five or more years of related experience
PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
Programming in either Python, SQL, Matlab, C++
Knowledge of time series modeling techniques
In-depth knowledge of bank products and modeling techniques used in banking
Familiar with mathematical concepts such as principal component analysis, Taylor’s approximation, and model calibration
Experience leading a team or project and/or mentorship experience
Experience with project management aspects such as timeline planning and changes
Strong written and verbal communication skills
