Description:

Our Netskrt Infrastructure Team is looking for a Network Engineer to join our team that is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining our networking infrastructure; ensuring that the appropriate standards and frameworks for our network operations are implemented and adhered to. We are a highly motivated team, dedicated to delivering products and services that improve the customer experience when accessing internet video at the edges of the network. We are developing a set of inter-related technologies targeting businesses that offer WiFi to their customers but which have limited bandwidth. This position will be located in Vancouver, BC.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with caching and CDN (content delivery network) technologies (Netflix, Amazon, Google, Limelight, Akamai, Fastly).
  • Experienced with various network hardware/software (i.e. Arista, Cisco, Ubiquiti, MikroTik, HP, Netgate).
  • Networking certifications (CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Network+).

Responsibilities:

You will provide leadership in the design, implementation and maintenance of our networking infrastructure. This includes hardware, software, systems and standards as appropriate, to support our development and production environments. You will be a key member of a team that collaborates with project teams, architects, administrators, and provide network recommendations during the design, development, deployment and maintenance of our systems and platforms. The successful candidate will possess an outstanding record of professional experience working on large scale networks, and thrives in an environment that demands accountability. You will be a key member of a team that understands the big picture perspective, and instills a customer-first attitude.

Specific areas of responsibility include:

  • Lead the research, planning, design, evaluation, implementation, troubleshooting and operation of the Company’s networks, firewalls, VPNs, and related areas in accordance with networking standards and best practices.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of safeguards and mitigation strategies to ensure reliable delivery of critical business services.
  • Research and advise on new networking technology implementations.
  • Required Qualifications, Skills, Experience:
  • Senior-level technical expertise in the overall network design, deployment, operation and maintenance of large-scale networks.
  • Expert knowledge of TCPIP networking and related networking services (i.e. BGP, OSPF, DNS, SMTP, DHCP, …), Firewalls (pfSense, IPtables, Cisco …), IPv6/IPv4 and VLANs.
  • Highly experienced with open-source technologies, virtualization and cloud services, including containerization computing platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experienced with Identity Management Systems (FreeIPA).
  • Excellent knowledge and a significant experience in a production Linux environment.
  • Experienced with patch management cycle.
  • Effective communication regarding system operations and environment changes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong work ethic.
