NURSES, TEACHERS, BUILDERS, SPORT COACHES, ARTISTS, MUSICIANS, PERSONAL TRAINERS, CHEFS’ HORTICULTURALIST AND MANY OTHER FIELDS.
We are currently looking for Casual NPSS Specialised Youth Mentors to work within our Non-Placement Support Services and Casework Support Services based in Port Macquarie, to deliver specialised mentoring to vulnerable youth in their area of interest. Hours will be on an “as needed” basis.
The aim of the Specialised Youth Mentor Program is to deliver specialised mentoring to vulnerable young people in their interest area. This program offers a unique approach as it has been tailored specifically to support young people who have experienced significant trauma. Specialised Youth Mentors will use their experience and knowledge to teach and encourage young people to develop their skills in an area that aligns with the mentor’s own interest and skill set.
Specialised Youth Mentors will develop a plan with the Young People that will outline their goals and the steps to achieve these. Mentors will use their knowledge to create a safe space for Young People to not only achieving these goals, but to overcome any obstacles or setbacks along their journey.
This Program is a fee-for-service brokerage partnership with Department of Communities and Justice and other Non-Government Organisations (NGO’s). Community Services contract Pathfinders to provide a range of services to provide children and young people in Out of Home Care (OoHC) and their families through Individual Client Arrangements.
The successful applicants will need to have a strong commitment to privacy and maintain strict confidentiality standards. Report writing is also mandatory.
The NPSS Specialised Youth Mentor will require knowledge and understanding of the issues that affect Aboriginal communities, societies and cultures in NSW. Willing to advocate on behalf of Aboriginal young people and their families in providing cultural support and provide services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children, young people and families.
This position is Level 4 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Modern Award (“the SCHDSI Award”)
