Description:

RAM is a technical consultancy providing Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering and Advisory services across Canada. RAM is searching for a motivated and experienced individual in Vancouver, BC. The successful candidate will be an individual that enjoys a challenging, professional, and dynamic workplace and contributing to the success of a hardworking team.

IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience within the Engineering/Construction industry in a safety role
  • Strong familiarity with provincial and federal health and safety regulations in British Columbia, including knowledge of WorkSafeBC and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and developing strategies to mitigate potential hazards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and/or conduct thorough incident investigations, including near misses and accidents. This includes root cause analysis and development of corrective actions.
  • Experience in conducting regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. This includes familiarity with creating and maintaining safety inspection checklists.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, first aid protocols, and coordination with local emergency services.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Fluent in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills crucial for creating and disseminating safety policies, procedures, and reports.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite and an aptitude for digital solutions and software for data tracking, reporting, and analysis.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders, including engineers, project managers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • The capacity to adapt to changing situations and proactively identify and resolve safety-related challenges.
  • A commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards in health, safety, and environmental practices.
  • Willingness to participate in RFP/Proposal submissions, networking, and other relationship development opportunities.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license
  • One or combination of:
  • Degree in OHS from a recognized Post-Secondary Institute with at least 3 years of industry experience
  • Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and at least 5 years of field experience in the industry,
  • Other recognized formal education with at least 7 years of industry experience,
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO), and/or
  • Eligibility for professional designation such as Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), or equivalent

Responsibilities:

FUNCTIONAL LEAD RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the functional lead for a team of people, you may be responsible for:

  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to their team, including supporting the Principal, HSE with hiring, objectives, performance reviews, and development plans/training for your team members.
  • Contribute to development, implementation, and improvement of relevant functional documentation (procedures, work instructions, forms, and templates) when necessary
  • Participates in the development, compliance, maintenance, and improvement of the company’s Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Management System and provides recommendations when necessary.
  • Ensures RAM’s Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) Management System is implemented by their team, and that all applicable stakeholder requirements/ regulations are met.
  • Ensures a high-performance and client-oriented team which supports achieving the RAM mission, strategic plan, objectives, and core values.
  • Assist to develop and report on the Safety Management team’s fiscal objectives, including positive teamwork, increased efficiency and profitable sales growth.
  • Support Business Development and Marketing opportunities and initiatives (e.g., proposals) to grow and maintain RAM’s client base and revenue targets.
  • Act as the main contact and Project Manager for a portfolio of Safety Management contracts.
  • May assist the Principal, HSE with monthly financials including invoicing; Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely submittal and approval of team’s timesheets and invoices for all contracts in their portfolio.
  • Host and lead meetings with client contacts as well as prepare presentations and other supporting content.
  • Manage digital solutions and ensure cost-effective implementation on projects

GENERAL PROJECT RESPONSIBILITIES:

As the main contact and Project Manager for a portfolio of Safety Management contracts, you may be responsible for:

  • Managing the program including project initiation, planning, and resourcing projects.
  • Attending project meetings as necessary and produce meeting minutes where required.
  • Reviewing project requirements and ensuring plans are in place and clearly understood by the team members and other project personnel where applicable.
  • Schedule and plan project work per client requirements and assign qualified resources, overseeing their timely performance and reporting.
  • Conducting regular check-ins with client PM or other client contacts. Communicates relevant information as required and solicits/records customer feedback.
  • Reviewing and auditing project team deliverables for consistency and adequacy of services
  • Serving as an escalation point for team member concerns or issues, assisting with conflict management or dispute resolution and escalating issues to client and/or Principal, HSE as required.
  • Be responsible for implementing RAM’s safety culture and objective of zero incidents across projects; and
  • Other project-specific duties as applicable and/or assigned by a Project Assignment Letter, not limited to:
  • Develop, implement, audit, and maintain client specific Safety Management Programs, Plans and Procedures;
  • Ensure Project Specific Health and Safety Management Plans are prepared, reviewed and implemented;
  • Review contractor and/or subcontractor Safety Management plans and procedures, ensuring all contractors and subcontractors are in compliance with current OHS regulation, legislation, and project safety requirements;
  • Facilitate and/ or lead near miss and/or incident investigations, including follow up of corrective and preventative actions and reports;
  • Ensure contractors and subcontractors are following their approved site-specific Safety Management plan and approved Safe Work Practices; and
  • Lead and participate in project Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee meetings, as applicable.
