Seeking a highly creative and skilled Pastry Chef to join our small yet expanding team. The ideal candidate has a deep passion for culinary arts, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to produce a wide variety of delectable desserts and baked goods for a health and wellness restaurant. As our Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for creating innovative recipes, managing kitchen operations, and ensuring the highest standards of quality and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, create, and present a diverse menu of desserts, pastries, and baked goods, including cakes, tarts, and specialty breads with a health concept in mind
  • Design and test new recipes for seasonal menus, ensuring creativity and consistency in taste and appearance.
  • Monitor inventory of baking ingredients and equipment, placing orders within budget to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Adhere to all sanitation and food safety standards, maintaining a clean and organized workstation.
  • Decorate and present pastries to achieve a beautiful and artistic presentation.
  • Train and mentor junior pastry staff, fostering a positive and efficient working environment.
  • Liaise with clients for special events and custom-made desserts, such as wedding and birthday cakes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and techniques in pastry arts.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, baker, or a similar role in a [relevant environment, e.g., hotel, restaurant, or bakery].
  • Formal training in culinary arts, pastry-making, or a related field is preferred.
  • Creative and innovative approach to developing new desserts and recipes.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in presentation, flavor, and texture.
  • In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation.
  • Flexibility to work long hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (e.g., gluten-free, sugarless) is a plus.
