About the Role:
AGF Investments seeks a Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join our Human Resources Team. Reporting to the Manager, Payroll and Benefits, the Payroll and Benefits Administrator will be responsible for coordinating, preparing and processing payroll and administering various benefits programs in accordance with established company practices and procedures

Your Responsibilities:

  • Administration of bi-weekly salary and hourly Canadian payrolls of 300+ employees, including accurate and timely processing (hires, changes, terminations, timecard maintenance, bonus and other special payments), and reconciling and distribution payroll reports/data)
  • Administration of payroll investments and retirement savings programs – bi-weekly contributions, enrollments, changes, terminations and applicable annual returns
  • Administration of benefits programs - enrolments, changes and terminations
  • Assisting with Leaves of Absences, including Maternity, Parental, Short-term and Long-term Disability
  • Record-keeping for audit and compliance purposes (signed forms, applications, approvals and reports)
  • Reconciling monthly, quarterly and annual government remittances, and process applicable payments, cheques and EFTs
  • Supporting year-end processing and reconciliation of payroll filings and returns – Federal, Provincial and State
  • Support the rollout of annual year-end mass updates, such as bonus, RRSP, HealthPLUS, etc. Preparing monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc reporting
  • Compiling year-end processing and reporting for T4, T4A, Releve 1, T2200s, taxable benefits, garnishee, EHT, CSST
  • Identifying process improvement opportunities and documenting current work processes and workflow
  • Providing necessary backup coverage for other payroll colleagues during vacation time
  • Supporting team with external relationships with payroll provider and other vendors, i.e. service and inquiries
  • Continuous learning through National Payroll Institute (NPI) and other courses (annual legislative updates, seminars, etc.)
  • Updating and maintaining payroll procedures, guides and other documents
  • Responding to queries from employees and other internal clients, as applicable
  • Other duties, projects and initiatives as required

Your Qualifications:

  • University degree or College diploma preferred
  • PCP payroll designation (or pursing a PCP) from the National Payroll Institute (NPI) required
  • Minimum 2 years of high-volume and complex Payroll experience, such as multiple business entities and jurisdictions
  • Benefits administration experience required
  • ADP WorkForce Now (WFN) or equivalent system experience (eg. Ceridian DayForce) is required
  • Knowledge of payroll-related tax legislation and employment standards (payroll source deductions, EHT, statutory holidays, overtime etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel, including V-lookups and PIVOT tables and formulas
  • Excellent organizational skills with capability to perform in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills; meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated professionalism when dealing with confidential and sensitive information
  • Strong team player and customer service orientation,
  • Fluent verbal and written communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
  • Experience with Workday HCM is an asset
  • Financial industry knowledge is an asset
