OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our friendly and professional Payroll Operations team.
Our team provides an exceptional, high-standard, customer-focused payroll service to Buckinghamshire Council and its external customers.

We are a close-knit Payroll Operations Team who oversee payroll services for around 13,000 employees. Our team offers expert/professional support and guidance on all payroll processes and statutory obligations.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a candidate who has specialised operational payroll experience, handling end-to-end payroll processing within medium to large organizations. Your proven expertise should include technical payroll processing and resolving complex payroll queries. Familiarity with monthly payroll processes, HMRC requirements, and statutory deadlines is essential. Taking ownership of your work and performing to the best of your ability are integral to this role.

Additionally, we are looking for:

  • Knowledge of HMRC payroll legislation
  • Strong ICT skills, proficiency in standard software packages like MS Office and Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly numerate, accurate, and detail oriented

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will join the Payroll Operations Team, led by the Payroll Operation Leads, with responsibility for all aspects of payroll administration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Running monthly payroll in accordance with the timetable.
  • Managing end-of-month and year-end processes to meet legislative requirements.
  • Expertly explaining complex pay scenarios and HMRC legislation.
  • Handling overpayment administration and recovery.
  • Facilitating payroll payments (BACS and CHAPS).
  • Reconciling and submitting RTI reports to HMRC.
  • Providing guidance to HR teams on payroll matters.
  • Ensuring timely third-party pay overs.
  • Resolving technical/data errors collaboratively.
  • Efficiently addressing payroll queries within Service Now.

Any-Desk:
As an ‘any-desk’ worker, you’ll need to be connected to our network to access digital folders and resources, but this can either be from home or an office location when required. You will be required to work from the office a couple of times a week, depending on your role and team requirements.
