Description:
We are in search of a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team in the Utilities/Infrastructure industry. The position is based in Winchester, Kentucky. As a Payroll Specialist, your focus will be on end-to-end payroll processing and compliance with IRS rules, and other tax and payroll-related duties. You’ll be using Oracle PeopleSoft and other accounting software systems to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
Responsibilities:
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing, including the preparation of all W-2s, federal, state, and local tax returns.
- Understand and apply IRS rules, taxable benefits, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and coordinate the payroll calendar.
- Balance payroll-related accounts monthly, and prepare all monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll-related tax filings.
- Maintain confidentiality of all payroll functions and prepare reports for Accounting leadership.
- Calculate and record non-cash taxable benefits for all applicable employees.
- Stay current with payroll-related laws and regulations and recommend changes to policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Provide backup support to other payroll team members.
- Mentor less experienced staff.
- Handle other duties as assigned.

- Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
- Experience in 401k - RRSP Administration
- Familiarity with various accounting functions
- Proficiency in Oracle PeopleSoft
- Prior experience with benefits payroll
- Knowledge of full cycle payroll processes
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Knowledge of federal and state payroll tax regulations and requirements
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
