Description:

A Post Doctoral Scholar position is available in the Division of Pharmaceutics and Pharmacology, College of Pharmacy, The Ohio State University. Our key research theme is the rational design of non-viral gene therapy for serious diseases, inspired by the intrinsic nature of extracellular vesicle (EV)-mediated intercellular communication, with a particular focus on EVDNA. Our highly multidisciplinary and collaborative research spans pharmaceutical engineering, materials chemistry, EV biology, immunology, protein and genetic engineering, and data science. The current focuses of our group include engineering core-shell lipid nanoparticles; functional and mechanistic exploration of immune cell-derived EVs (iEVs) and iEV DNA; and translational therapeutics, vaccines and biomarkers development.
The candidate will plan, design and execute experiments of considerable scope and complexity; coordinate the processing and analysis of data; develop and troubleshoot new experimental techniques and protocols; attend research seminars and conferences; draft and publish the manuscript; co-supervise graduate students and train/educate other laboratory personnel.
Required Qualifications: PhD degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemical and biomedical engineering or equivalent combinations of education and experience required.
Desired Qualifications: Strong background in one or more of the following areas: gene delivery, nanomedicine, materials chemistry, biomedical engineering, protein engineering, immunology, cancer therapy, or inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, would be highly beneficial.
The Ohio State University’s Shared Values include Excellence and Impact, Diversity and Innovation, Inclusion and Equity, Care and Compassion, and Integrity and Respect.
