Description:

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced registered Therapy Radiographer to join the leadership team in Radiotherapy.
The role of principal pretreatment radiographer will lead our CT and planning sections. Providing expert knowledge the post holder will be able to shape the future of the service and work with an enthusiastic team to deliver this.
The Nottingham Radiotherapy Centre offers cutting edge treatment delivery and pre-treatment technology including 6 Elekta Versa HD and Agility Linacs (2 with Brainlab and Exactrac and 2 with VisionRTs SGRT solution), 2 Canon Exceed LB CT 4D scanners, Raystation and Monaco planning systems and Mosaiq Oncology Management system.
The Radiotherapy Department serves a population of 1.1 million and provides complex treatments including: Paediatric radiotherapy, image guided IMRT, SABR, SRS and total body electron and photon treatments. The department has a major commitment to evidence based practice and participates in multi-centre clinical research trials. We encourage post-graduate study, research and development and clinical audit and we work closely with Sheffield Hallam University at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
This post will provide the ambitious professional with an opportunity to expand themselves and to have a direct impact on the quality of service provided and to shape the future in this excellent radiotherapy service.
The post holder will lead the pre-treatment and planning sections. to do this effectively they will;
co-ordinate the clinical workload in Radiotherapy planning and CT areas and act as an expert resource for clinical advice to staff. These areas included treatment planning, Calcs, fusion and CT
Be responsible for the management and delivery of planning and patient localisation in the Radiotherapy service through the deployment of therapy radiographers, students and support staff, equipment and other resources ensuring a high quality, safe and efficient patient centred service
Co-ordinate and communicate with members of the multi-professional team, including the Consultant and Registrar Clinical Oncologists, medical physicists and technicians
Act as an expert resource for clinical advice to staff, wherever possible based on evidence based practice, and to evaluate best practice.

1. Have expert knowledge on all aspects of activities of the relevant planning and CT areas and act as a focus for clinical advice to staff.
2. Have job planned clinical time to support the pretreatment and planning pathway and maintain clinical knowledge.
3. Have sound knowledge on all aspects of the treatments administered in the department and co-ordinate clinical advice to staff.
4. Monitor the electronic radiotherapy referrals ensuring appropriateness and whether any additional actions are required. This responsibility may be delegated but overall responsibility sits with the post holder.
5. Ensure accurate localisation and planning of treatment prescriptions by appropriate delegation of duties to staff, by checking procedures, prescriptions and working closely with other senior staff to ensure that areas where extra supervisory support is required are covered.
6. Ensure treatment plans and prescriptions are annotated and completed correctly and any inaccuracies reported immediately. Taking the lead on investigations as required.
7. Work closely with Consultant Clinical Oncologists to deliver planning in a timeframe that enables cancer treatment target
