Description:
HOW MIGHT YOU DEFY IMAGINATION?
If you feel like you’re part of something bigger, it’s because you are. At Amgen, our shared mission—to serve patients—drives all that we do. It is key to our becoming one of the world’s leading biotechnology companies. We are global collaborators who achieve together—researching, manufacturing, and delivering ever-better products that reach over 10 million patients worldwide. It’s time for a career you can be proud of.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Molecular Biology, Chemical Biology, or a related field with 1-3 years industrial or postdoctoral experience
- Expertise in protein expression and purification with broad knowledge of mammalian and non-mammalian expression systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Willingness to explore new and high-throughput technologies as well as experience with biophysical methods for protein characterization
- Knowledge of mechanisms of immunogenicity of therapeutic proteins
- Strong appreciation for quantitative approaches as well as desire to interact closely with data scientists
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams while also working independently
- Commitment to diversity and equity while creating a welcoming and inclusive work environment
Responsibilities:
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. The Therapeutic Discovery organization is seeking to fill a position at the Principal Scientist level in our Discovery Protein Sciences group at our Amgen British Columbia site in Vancouver, Canada. This position, which is laboratory-based, will support the design and generation of complex biological molecules for both small and large molecule discovery programs. Such molecules will inherently be diverse in nature and will require technical expertise in mammalian and non-mammalian expression systems as well as purification techniques. This role will further involve collaboration with our state-of-the-art synthetic biology Biofoundry to accelerate protein generation to support Amgen’s rich discovery pipeline. In addition to protein generation, the scientist will contribute to initiatives around structural biology and the development of innovative approaches to mitigate the immunogenicity of therapeutic proteins by rational design. Given the breadth of projects, this role will involve highly multidisciplinary research and will provide opportunities for close interactions with scientists across research and development at Amgen.
