Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Reporting to the Enterprise Privacy Officer and working in partnership with Westpac New Zealand’s (WNZL) Data and Cybersecurity teams, the Privacy Compliance Manager plays a critical role in supporting the Enterprise Privacy Office with leading the WNZL strategy for privacy and personal data protection to ensure WNZL’s effective management of customer personal information and compliance with regulatory requirements.
You will:
- Provide specialist Privacy Compliance support, and advice to the Westpac business.
- Collaborate and co-ordinate with Westpac Business Units to develop and embed effective operational Privacy risk practices that meet Privacy policy requirements.
- Manage key compliance control activities, including those relating to product and services development and maintenance.
- Perform privacy impact assessments, manage Privacy incidents including root cause identification and analytics, as well as u undertake regulatory reporting activities.
- Development and deployment of compliance policies and procedures to support Westpac’s business.
- Develop/ update meaningful and accurate guidance and training on Westpac Privacy requirements.
- In conjunction with Westpac Learning and Development, develop/ update guidance and training on Westpac Privacy requirements.
- Influence and foster a culture of Privacy compliance; sharing political, regulatory and community expectations, and partnering with business units to enhance ownership of Privacy risk.

- Experience in a risk / compliance related, Legal, Audit, or Financial Regulatory function.
- Experience of NZ and relevant overseas privacy legislation, privacy risk and related best practice management standards.
- Compliance experience in the banking/financial services sector.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Good stakeholder management skills to guide individuals to fast and effective outcomes.
- Experience championing change and strengthening privacy practices.
- Sound judgement skills to provide trusted advice.
