Description:

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Gains a deep understanding of the customer experience, identifies and works with Management, Purchasing, Sales and Engineering to fill product gaps and generate new ideas that grow market share, improve customer experience and drive growth.
  • Articulates what features and functions should be delivered, facilitate discussions around the importance of the new or improved products or features or functions and how that may impact the Company’s development and/or production schedule.
  • Ensures that all product development processes are executed properly, on time, and in accordance with management’s vision.
  • Translates product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes while keeping everyone focused on that vision of the product.
  • Creates buy-in for the product vision both internally and with key external partners.
  • Drives product launches including working with Marketing, Sales, Senior Management, and Engineering.
  • Evaluates promotional plans to ensure that they are consistent with product line strategy and that the message is effectively conveyed.
  • Determines customers’ needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
  • Obtains product market share by working with sales management to develop product sales strategies.
  • Assesses market competition by comparing the Company’s product to competitors’ products.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas and/or product or packaging changes.
  • Brings new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and product development programs; preparing return-on-investment analyses; establishing time schedules with Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Provides information for Senior Management by preparing short-term and long-term product sales forecasts and special reports and analyses; answering questions and requests.
  • Introduces and markets new products by developing time-integrated plans with Sales, Marketing and Engineering.
  • Determines product pricing by utilizing market research data; reviewing production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders.
  • Maintains product management staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
