Production Operative (Packer)

Origin Fertilisers supplies blended and straight fertiliser products to the agriculture market in the UK. Operating nationally from 11 geographically diverse locations providing maximum coverage of the UK. Key to our strategy is a continuous programme of innovation and product development aimed at improving nutrient efficiency and farmer returns on fertiliser.
We are currently looking to recruit a dedicated and flexible individual, who is willing and able to perform in all operational production activities within the site, reporting to the Site and Assistant Site Manager.
The individual will ideally have some proven history in a production packing environment, but this is not essential as full training will be given. The individual should have the ability to work effectively on their own and/or as an integrated member of a small on-site production team to achieve the required production targets.

• Be willing to work additional hours as and when required sometimes at short notice to suit the needs of the business.
• Ability to cope and work in a demanding environment aligned with seasonal customer expectations.

Key Skills

• A quick learner to pick up the operation of the packing plant to enable efficient operation and to achieve desired production targets.
• To monitor and record volumes packed per batch.
• Quality control – monitoring production blends being packed and produce traceability records.
• Communicate with blending and FLT operators.
• Having proven experience in safe and efficient operation of plant equipment.
• To demonstrate understanding of packing plant including the need for daily inspections and operator preventative maintenance techniques.
• Undertake cleaning and basic preventative maintenance duties, taking a pride in caring for equipment and machinery.
• Carry out equipment inspections and safety checks within their working area.
• Possess good personal aptitude skills necessary to develop, learn and be trained on;
• Product knowledge including raw materials, finished products and compatibility.
• Site housekeeping.
• Opportunities to be trained and developed to operate mobile plant, e.g., counterbalance FLT’s loading shovels, telehandlers, MEWP’s etc
• Workplace transport safety.
• General site safety.
