Description:

Sheridan is looking for an outstanding Certified Athletic Therapist to join our faculty team in the Bachelor of Applied Health Sciences – Athletic Therapy program. We are looking for part-time professor to teach the ATHL30000 Emergency Conditions 3 - Advanced Skills course. In this course students utilize high fidelity simulation manikins that mimic injured athletes in mock emergency scenarios. Students apply all necessary emergency procedures to the manikins. Students reflect on their performance through debriefing activities. Students engage in group work scenarios about different treatment choices of an injured athlete.

Sheridan professors are responsible for developing an effective learning environment for students while respecting their diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE(S) WILL ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Athletic Therapist, with 3 - 5 years professional experience in an Athletic Therapy setting or a related field;
  • Certified First Responder Instructor, Canadian Red Cross with 3-5 years of experience in On-field sport medical coverage;
  • Advanced knowledge in Emergency Medicine;
  • Practical experience in Athletic Therapy;
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe Acrobat;
  • Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level or equivalent experience as a trainer in Healthcare.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Delivering course curriculum in classroom and/or online, which includes ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques;
  • Tutoring and academic counselling of students, while evaluating student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the students’ work within assigned courses;
  • Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes and designing appropriate strategies and tools for assessing student learning;
  • Developing individualized instruction and multi-media presentations and incorporating technology into the learning process where applicable;
  • Attending periodic faculty meetings.
