About the College/Department
Innovation and Research (I&R) are at the heart of everything we do at the University of Derby; it informs our learning and teaching, supports businesses, drives partnerships and provides real-world impact.
The I&R Team is responsible for our research and knowledge exchange activities including funding opportunities, Knowledge Transfer partnerships (KTPs), Contract Research, Consultancy, Continual Professional Development (CPD), and external institutional success measures such as the Research Excellence (REF) & Knowledge Exchange Frameworks (KEF).
Our Business Engagement and Employability Team focuses on how the University interacts with industry in three key areas: support for our students and graduates to develop and successfully reach their aspirations; linking business to academics and research students to assist with research, knowledge exchange and consultancy; and the provision of skills that are relevant to industry, whether through courses, apprenticeships, CPD or further training.
About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a ground-breaking programme supporting mental health and well-being in the workplace across the UK and gain experience working across a diverse range of industries with an emphasis on workforce health and wellbeing and reducing stigma.
The role will support the Work Health Hub Manager achieve the project aims and outputs and the development and delivery of online and face-to-face events, campaigns, and marketing activity, to ensure the success of the Work Health Hub. This will build upon existing business engagement and income generation within the University and will be instrumental in delivering outcomes for the fourth pillar of our Strategic Framework - ‘Industry Engaged’.
Core duties include identifying new business opportunities and driving forward our consultancy approach across national organisations. Your role will open discussions with businesses, exploring their key challenges, current wellbeing provision, gaps in provision and creating bespoke actions plans. You will help deliver a variety of health and wellbeing related workshops and webinars and support the Manager to develop new tools and resources for the Work Health Hub members. Your role will also involve maintaining the Work Health Hub membership platform.
The role will work Monday-Friday, based at Kedleston Road. Hybrid working can be accommodated. There may be some evening work required, specifically when delivering key events and campaigns. There will also be opportunities to broaden knowledge and skills through relevant training and developmental programmes, such as Mental Health First Aid training, specific wellbeing topics, and insight days in related services.

About You
We are looking for a proactive and extremely well motivated individual to support the Work Health Hub Manager on driving forward the newly launched Work Health Hub and consultancy programme of wellbeing activity.
Our ideal candidate would hold a degree or have equivalent experience in the field of health and wellbeing. An awareness and understanding of the importance of driving forward positive health and wellbeing in the workplace is essential.
Principal accountabilities

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in relevant subject or demonstrable equivalent experience within a health and wellbeing setting

EXPERIENCE

  • Relevant experience in business engagement planning and delivery
  • Experience of supporting projects
  • Experience of promoting a programme or service across various networks
  • Experience of self-direction and ability to use own initiative
  • Experience of working in a role involving strict deadlines

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

  • An understanding of the UK Mental Health & Well Being agenda
  • An understanding of the importance of positive mental health and wellbeing in the workplace, and its impact on productivity and performance
  • The ability to compile, coordinate and produce key performance reports, where required
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable in dealing at all levels within an organisation
  • Attention to detail, thorough & methodical
  • Ability to design and develop new content and initiatives for the Hub
  • Ability to plan and deliver presentations to key stakeholders
  • Ability to maximise digital marketing opportunities including the use of social media
  • Ability to critically appraise, respond to need, and make decisions
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative
