Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake and be responsible for the planning, scheduling, coordinating and monitoring of assigned technical projects/contracts from inception and approval to final acceptance.
  • Manage external design agencies for engineering design oversight contracts related to Human Factors Engineering, Pressure Boundary Applications, Fire Protection Engineering and other technical services in support of the APM DGR facility design development.
  • Ensure design management process requirements are adhered to with a focus on design verification.
  • Develop project execution strategies and plans including objectives and scope definition, cost estimates, schedule etc.
  • Provide advice and guidance to others involved in the interconnected and cross project activities. Arrange meetings as required to coordinate requirements and progress with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate regularly with internal stakeholders and other designated contacts within the NWMO to understand competing priorities.
  • Prepare compliance matrix to ensure all project requirements identified during the scope are complied with.
  • Meet with consultants and contractors as required to interpret requirements, review progress, address deviations from plans and obtain cooperation in processes and discuss ideas.
  • Develop reports on project status and progress as required including variance reports.
  • Actively participate in the preparation of engineering documents required to support Tailored Impact Assessment Guidelines required by Impact Assessment Agency of Canada including:
  • Reviewing, consolidating, and authoring technical engineering documents to support Regulatory License Application submissions.
  • Reviewing technical documents and provide feedback on completeness and adherence to technical and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor compliance and ensure that all work activities reflect an awareness of, and compliance with regulatory requirements, adherence to applicable codes & standards, are consistent with industry best practices, and meet NWMO’s quality requirements.
  • Communicate (written and oral) findings of work to stakeholders, including technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Promote and support a strong safety culture to meet NWMO’s Human Performance requirements and ensure Health Safety and Environment Safety requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Perform other duties as required
