The above vacancy exists within our On-Sites Projects department based in Vanderbijlpark reporting to the Project Manager. Qualified candidates who meet the requirements of this role are invited to apply.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or mechanical Engineering;
  • Registered or eligible to register with ECSA as a Candidate Engineer or Professional Engineer;
  • At least 5 years of experience in project engineering within a chemical plant or industrial environment;
  • Strong project management and organizational skills;
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to coordinate across diverse teams;
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical plant operations and related safety/environmental regulations;
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently;
  • Must have excellent planning skill;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
Responsibilities

The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing and executing engineering projects across On-site plant operations. The role focuses on ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required specifications, while maintaining high safety, quality, and environmental standards. The primary responsibilities of this key role include but not limited to:

  • Lead and manage the full project life cycle, from concept through to commissioning and handover.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure the timely delivery of projects.
  • Ensure strict adherence to Air Products’ safety, health, and environmental protocols during all project activities.
  • Liaise with cross-functional teams and external vendors/contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Implement risk management and quality control processes to ensure projects are delivered to high standards.
  • Provide regular project updates and reports to management and other key stakeholders.
