Description:
JOB SUMMARY
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the day to day management of the Purchasing team ensuring effective communication between the various internal and external stakeholders. Working together with the Procurement team, the job holder ensures suppliers are performing to a high standard and is responsible for purchasing required materials in a timely and effective manner for assigned locations in line with approved budgets.
EDUCATION:
- Educated to a Graduate degree level
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Previous purchasing experience with a similar sized company is essential
- Previous experience in analysing data
- Previous experience of leading and mentoring a team
- Previous experience of working with budgets and KPI’s
- Understanding of health and safety and food hygiene
Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)
- Level 3 HACCP certification / Food Safety certification / Workplace Health & Safety
- Ability to lead and manage diverse teams.
- Good negotiating and persuasive skills.
- Ability to effectively manage conflict.
- Ability to motivate and drive performance.
- Organised, process driven with an ability to critically evaluate and improve processes.
- Ability to manage change effectively.
- Computer literate and able to work with MS Office and IT Systems

- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the business.
Responsibilities:
- Assumes responsibility for the ordering of materials to run the business effectively and in line with materials budget.
- Collaborates closely with Warehouse to ensure stock levels are constantly monitored in line with Days on Hand data, minimum/maximum stock levels are adhered to, and targets and applicable business KPI’s are met.
- Records and reviews material waste and deadstock and adjusts stock levels proactively and accordingly.
- Overall accountability for the Ordering section including recruitment, training and development, and performance management.
- Leads and drives continuous improvement of the department.
- Ensures legal/compliance requirements across health and safety, food safety, and security.
- Responsible for keeping all ordering activities in line with unit finance regulations and audit criteria.
- Communicates with internal & external customers on irregularities and ensures GG Suppliers are performing to high standards with the support of Procurement.
- Keeps the Procurement team informed of Supplier issues by way of open lines of communication
- Managing suppliers on day to day operational issues, building relationships with Suppliers and Internal customers
