About the role | Mō te tūranga: Join our team as a Quality and Health & Safety Manager and take a leading role in shaping excellence at Awanui Labs. This is an exciting opportunity to drive the strategic direction of our regional laboratory operations, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety across all processes. This is a permanent, full-time role of 80 hours per fortnight. You will lead the development and implementation of Quality and Health & Safety systems, ensuring compliance with national and international standards while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and workplace safety. Key Responsibilities: Lead and maintain Quality and Health & Safety systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 15189, ISO 45001, the Health and Safety at Work Act (2015), and other relevant standards. Oversee audits, reporting, KPIs, and regulatory compliance, escalating incidents as required. Develop and implement Quality Management and Health & Safety plans, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. Manage external Quality Assurance programs, customer surveys, complaints, investigations and risk mitigation. Chair and/or contribute to Quality and Health & Safety meetings, including national forums. Maintain systems, equipment, training, and documentation to support operational excellence. About you | He kōrero mōu To be successful in this role you need to have: Experienced in senior laboratory roles or as a technical escalation point. Strong background in managing Quality (ISO 15189 / AS/NZS) and Health & Safety systems (ISO 45001) in compliance with NZ standards. Knowledgeable in laboratory equipment, analysers, and health & safety practices. Experience with auditing systems and processes. Skilled in problem-solving, decision-making, and working independently. Strong planning, time management, monitoring, and evaluation skills. Effective communicator with presentation, influencing, and systems-thinking abilities.
