Description:

Provide a 24 hour Medical Imaging Service to the clients of the Alice Springs hospital, the Central Australian
Health Service, Community Health Centres and Private Practitioners as requested. This position is available to graduates of
either the 3 or 4 year course

Department of Health has a Smoke Free Policy. Staff are not permitted to smoke anywhere on Departmental premises, facilities

Primary Objective: Provide a 24 hour Medical Imaging Service to the clients of the Alice Springs hospital, the Central Australian Health
Service, Community Health Centres and Private Practitioners as requested.

Responsibilities:

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide medical imaging services at the Alice Springs Hospital as required. Shift work may be required.
  2. Recognise the hospitals ongoing commitment to Quality Assurance through personal accountability for standards of care
    and working practice and participation in the department’s quality program.
  3. At all times adhere to safe work practices and the department radiation policy to reduce the likelihood of accidents and
    unnecessary radiation exposure.
  4. Liaise with Medical Staff to ascertain relevant clinical history to ensure that the most appropriate procedure is performed.
  5. Perform patient registration functions for the purpose of Radiology procedures ensuring data is correctly entered into the
    hospital information system
  6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies relating to the work being undertaken in order to
    ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces..
  7. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary leadership practices and role modelling behaviour.

  1. Provide the medical imaging services at the Alice Springs Hospital as required to assist with the diagnosis and treatment of the
    patient. 24 hour shift work and/or on-call will be required.
  2. Recognise the hospitals ongoing commitment to Quality Assurance through personal accountability for standards of care and work
    practice and participation in the department’s quality program.
  3. At all times adhere to safe work practices and the department radiation policy as recommended by the department to reduce the
    likelihood of accidents and unnecessary radiation exposure.
  4. Liaise with Medical Officers, appropriate hospital staff or the Radiologist to clarify referral request details or to ascertain relevant
    clinical history to ensure that the most appropriate procedure is performed.
  5. Perform patient registration functions for the purpose of Radiology procedures ensuring data is correctly entered into the hospital
    information system.
  6. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in
    order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
