Job title: Regional Manager - Farmington, CT (Northeast US)

Supervisory responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a project team of managers, equipment operators, laborers, drivers, admin, mechanics, etc.
  • Monitor, track, and document performance; give feedback to employees; discipline behavior that does not meet project and company employment and safety policies.
  • Install/maintain a culture that promotes a safe working environment

Essential functions:

  • Develop the operation strategy with the Assistant GM and GM to ensure a profitable project; adjust strategy and daily operational activities to meet or exceed profit objectives within yearly budgets
  • Hire project employees; communicate expectations, conduct new-hire safety training; direct the work schedules of employees; report weekly time to corporate HR; enforce company employment policies and communicate discipline to corporate HR
  • Direct the work of employees in safety sensitive areas i.e. confined space, tanks, ponds, remote areas, etc.
  • Work closely with inbound and outbound customers to communicate answers to questions about pricing, volume, projects, bids, quotes or other sales functions to create revenue opportunities for the project. Work with managers in areas for these activities which require specialized training to perform tasks.
  • Work with area and regional company salespeople to address opportunities to compost various feedstocks potentially available to compost at the Harborview site. Review technical testing protocols with General Manager prior to agreeing to any long-term contracts.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings and maintain records Ensure efficient, safe operations of trucks, tractors, conveyors, grinders, screeners, loaders, pumps and other similar equipment. Coordinate subcontract haulers for project support; give direction to the subcontractors and manage their daily role in the project
  • Manage vendors to support operations economically and efficiently.
  • Oversee AP/AR and Payroll for the business Unit
  • DOT and Safety Ambassador
  • Manage property/properties that support the operations to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and landlords
  • Work with the Routing, Fleet, Customer Service, Safety, Sales, and various other departments to ensure safety-service-and efficiencies are the focal point of daily operations
  • Ensure that the project operates consistently to meet customer expectations, OSHA regulations, EPA compliance, Illinois regulatory compliance, DOT compliance and company policy; hold project team members accountable
  • Communicate effectively with customer representatives at the job site
  • Create and/or maintain systems to track all revenue, expenses, labor, maintenance, and all other information to ensure business unit is in compliance and running effectively
  • Inspect and maintain equipment and job-site daily and report changes/issues to regional manager
  • Complete daily financial progress and operations reports, safety meetings and time reporting paperwork
  • Ensure work areas inside the office and outside and around the project site are kept clean
  • Ensure safe equipment operations
  • Maintain professional appearance and use personal protection equipment (PPE) when required

Competency: Must be detail oriented, accurate, flexible and dependable. Strong written and oral communication skills. Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

  • Netsuite Experience is highly desired
  • Expert in Microsoft Office
  • Waste and/or Organic industry experience

Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, or overwhelming odors.
Physical demands: To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, climb and hear. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to balance, stoop, knee, crouch, crawl and walk. The employee must occasionally lift. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Travel: Local Travel may be frequent depending on job assigned.

Preferred education and experience: Bachelors Degree or higher. Must have valid driver’s license. Experience in operating agriculture and/or construction equipment. Proven experience managing a similar type of project. Experience working within the organics industry.
