Description:
Reporting to the Manager of Health Records and Patient Resources, the incumbent is responsible for the registration of patient admissions, emergency and outpatient visits. Shift rotations are subject to change.
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Graduate of a Medical Office Administration Program or Medical Terminology Certificate and equivalent in related experience
o One year related clerical experience in a high volume, fast paced department within a health care/medical office setting
o One year experience with computer software including Microsoft Office programs
o Accurate keyboarding skills with a minimum of 50 w.p.m.
o Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centred care
o Excellent communication skills and ability to respect the confidentially of personnel and patient information
o Compliance with confidential requirements under the Niagara Health Privacy Policy
o Demonstrated professional attitude while interacting with the public, patients, employees and medical staff
o Ability to cope with frequent interruptions while maintaining deadlines and expected registration turnaround time and work in a multi-tasking environment
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Physical and mental capabilities to perform the duties of the position such as multitasking, keyboarding and working in a fast-paced, stressful environment
o Must be available for all shifts including midnight, afternoon and weekend shifts, vacation replacement, paid holidays and sick time with minimal notice
o Travel between sites when required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English & French) will be considered an asset
o Consistent and regular attendance required
