Position Summary:
The position will support research investigating the impact of urban environment on human behaviors. The successful applicant will work in the intersection of health geography, epidemiology, and data science to measure human activities and urban environmental drivers of health using large digital data generated by research participants.

Under the supervision of Dr. Hiroshi Mamiya, the successful applicant assistant will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning and linking geospatial, health, and behavioral data stored in database.
  • Applying statistical modeling and machine learning algorithms to capture physical activity and dietary patterns from consumer transaction and wearable device data.
  • Performing literature review about the impact of urban environment on physical activity and diets
  • Assisting manuscript preparation
  • Performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • MSc in Epidemiology, (Bio)statistics, Public Health, Health Geography, Computer Science, or a related field. M.Sc and Ph.D in progress are acceptable, provided that the qualifications below are met.
  • Proficiency in R statistical software and/or Python.
  • Knowledge in statistical modeling.
  • Excellent analytical and written and oral communication skills.
  • Motivation to learn new analytical skills and applied public health research.
