Description:
We are looking for a research lab technician to join Dr. Jing Wang’s team in the Regenerative Medicine Program. In the lab, we are interested in studying molecular regulation of developing and adult neural stem cell properties including proliferation and differentiation using genetically modified mouse strains, with the goal of defining novel approaches for brain repair after stroke damaged brain injury. The experience with animal handling, animal behavior and genotyping are required for the position. The molecular cloning, Immunocytochemistry and primary cell culture will be assets to have. The technician is also expected to take various lab management duties including ordering reagents, working with other staff to ensure all equipment is in working order, etc.
EDUCATION:
- B.Sc. or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with animal handling, animal behavior and genotyping are required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with computer software for data entry.
- High-level of hand eye coordination; ability to manage lab such as ordering, organizing the lab in terms of space and documentation work.
- Excellent communication (oral and written) skills.
- Excellent organization skills and high-level of accuracy.
- Familiarity with laboratory protocols.
- Ability to resolve routine problems and ability to apply and follow laboratory safety policies.
- Willingness to learn new techniques.
- Equipment Used Equipment used includes, but is not limited to: pipettors, centrifuges, incubators, and standard PCR machines, computer.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with molecular cloning, immunocytochemistry and primary cell culture is an asset.
