Description:
- ASIC is seeking a full time Lawyer/Analyst - Scams to join ASIC’s Scams Team
- Permanent position based in Melbourne or Sydney
- Salary $118,925 (plus 15.4% superannuation) depending on experience

The team
ASIC’s Enforcement and Compliance Group (ECG) is responsible for the conduct of ASIC’s initial inquiries, compliance and enforcement work across all sectors excluding markets. The ECG comprises Investigation and Enforcement, Enforcement Inquiries and Compliance, Enforcement Services and Enforcement Policy and Practice. ECG also includes ASIC’s Scams Team responsible for the design, coordination and delivery of ASIC’s Scams Strategy.
The role
Responsibilities:
- Project managing and contributing to multiple regulatory initiatives related to the delivery of ASIC’s Scams Strategy
- Researching, collating and analysing a breadth of information relevant to anti-scams initiatives, including industry trends, domestic and international developments, and relevant legislation.
- Engaging with internal and external stakeholders, and supporting coordination and liaison with other teams within ASIC and with other Government agencies on ASIC’s Scams Strategy and anti-scam initiatives.
- Drafting reports and papers, and contributing to the presentation of written and oral briefings to ASIC leadership and other team members
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision and take responsibility for outcomes
About you
- Knowledge of scams, disruption responses, evolving and emerging risks and the regulatory and policy landscape, or the ability to quickly acquire this knowledge
- Ability to represent ASIC to ensure ASIC’s position and voice is clear and strong
- Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to influence, lead and implement a whole of ASIC work program
- Relevant tertiary qualifications preferred
- For Lawyers only: Must have a bachelor’s degree in Law, admission to the Supreme Court of an Australian State or Territory as a solicitor or barrister and must hold (or be eligible) a current legal practicing certificate from the relevant State law society
