JOB DESCRIPTION

This Scientist III position is available in the Chemistry R&D Team within the Protein and Cellular Analysis business unit located in Eugene, Oregon. The team develops new products for life sciences customers primarily in the areas of flow cytometry, fluorescence imaging, and other cell analysis applications. We are looking for an additional hardworking member. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out the design and development of new chemistry targets for imaging and flow cytometry applications.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • MS/PhD in Synthetic Organic chemistry or related field with 2 years relevant experience or BS with 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience with designing synthetic pathways for new fluorescent molecules, preferably for Cell biology applications
  • Experience with use of scientific databases like SciFinder

Responsibilities:

  • Design and synthesize target molecules, execution of experimental plans and reporting experimental results
  • Use of chromatography techniques like HPLC, TLC and prep HPLC
  • Use of spectroscopy techniques like NMR, IR, UV and mass spectroscopy
  • Maintain a detailed and accurate laboratory notebook
  • Interact with other internal R&D and business work groups
  • Perform tasks independently
  • Be an active member of the team, seeking and accepting laboratory responsibilities to maintain and improve the workplace
