TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent AND one (1) year of satisfactory work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Must pass and maintain license requirements set by the North Dakota Peace Officer Standards and Training Board
  • Must possess a valid North Dakota Driver’s License or equivalent
  • Must pass a thorough background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol screening
  • Must obtain and maintain NCIC security certification through the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigations
  • Technical certifications in CPR, First Aid, and specialized equipment are required

Responsibilities

The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents in this position. The duties and responsibilities described are not a comprehensive list and may change with or without notice.   • Conducts screening of building occupants and personal items; inspects personal items for potential hazards, and searches individuals for dangerous materials or contraband according to policy
  • Maintains security of the Courthouse perimeter through assigned physical and electronic surveillance
  • Responds to calls for service within the Courthouse, including door alarms
  • Actively monitors electronic security systems within the Courthouse
  • Updates and maintains event logs and shift activity reports in accordance with the Sheriff’s Office policy
  • Identifies and reports equipment maintenance issues; performs preventative maintenance as directed
  • Notifies the Records Clerk of incoming record requests
  • Assists with sworn law enforcement duties as requested by the department
  • Testifies as a credible witness in court proceedings
  • Maintains confidentiality of non-public records and makes available all data and information deemed a public record by the North Dakota Century Code.
