In a nutshell
The Senior Accountant will manage the day-to-day accounting operations of the Design Hotels corporate office in Berlin and our foreign subsidiaries in the US, UK, and Singapore. This includes but is not limited to, all accounts payable and receivables processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all invoices, expense reports, and payments. The position will execute critical tasks during the month-end and year-end closings, budgeting, and forecasting, as well as maintain strong internal and external stakeholder relationships to support the company’s overall financial operations. The incumbent participates in internal, external, and regulatory audits, ensuring compliance with all tax regulatory requirements and internal SOPs.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable tasks, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
  • Execute month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and preparation of filings.
  • Review of monthly financial statements of foreign subsidiaries.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with local GAAP and company policies.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Mentor and guide junior accounting staff.
  • Continuously improve accounting processes and systems.
  • Close collaboration with cross-functional teams across the organization
  • Coordinate with external auditors and manage audit processes.

Experience & Mindset

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior role.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education in accounting, finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding of German accounting standards (HGB) and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Navision, PeopleSoft) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in German and English reading and writing
