Position Overview:
Navistar International Corporation is a leading North American truck manufacturer with great products, a strong market positions and best-in-class distribution networks.
We are currently seeking a Senior Category Manager to join our Procurement Organization team at our headquarters in Lisle, IL.. With over $500 million in spend, this position is responsible for the Service Solutions sourcing strategy, identification of cost reduction opportunities, supply base management, new product launches and long-term supply agreements for variety of products. This is a leadership role supporting our Service and Aftermarket business unit [$2.1B+ in revenue].
Responsibilities:
- Lead development and execution of category strategies that best supports the overall business needs leveraging total Navistar spend.
- Build and manage relationships and credibility with cross functional team members and management, understanding the business needs and delivering on results and commitments.
- Build strong strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure that product quality, on time delivery and service levels are met at optimal and sustainable cost. Leverage supplier resources for new product introductions and problem solving.
- Lead strategic sourcing decisions for new product launches, remanufactured products as well as resource business for improved cost, quality, or delivery opportunities
- Lead the team in the identification and development of new cost reduction opportunities using variety of procurement levers including analytics, competitive bidding, global sourcing, negotiation, technology, supply chain/footprint optimization, target costing, aftermarket service parts, etc.
- Develop meaningful insights from the analysis of commodity spend, market intelligence, sales data, etc., including developing recommendations for category and savings opportunities as well collaborate with product and pricing team for revenue and margin growth
- Negotiate with and influence internal customers and external suppliers to maximize results
- Facilitate communications between external suppliers and various internal departments to resolve queries or issues. Communicate effectively to all levels of organizations.
- Lead implementation of cost reduction initiatives
- Work with Product Management Team in identifying and launching new all makes programs with new and remanufactured parts. Support launch of new brands and products.
- Lead a team of category managers as needed
- Ability to travel 20-30%
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- At least 10 years of materials management or supply chain experience
- At least 4 years of management experience

- Master’s degree
- At least 8 years of materials management or supply chain experience
- At least 4 years of management experience
OR
- At least 12 years of materials management or supply chain experience
- At least 4 years of management experience
