Responsibilities
  • Design and manage the design aspects of projects.
  • Oversee in-house and subcontract design/engineering activities.
  • Continue implementing DriveWorks using existing and new SolidWorks files.
  • Develop and optimise DriveWorks rules to create efficiencies within the project design process.
  • Systemise/standardise the retractable tiering product range to simplify layouts, design, and operations, achieving cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Generate project-specific structures and BOMs through DriveWorks to provide necessary information for purchasing and operations.
  • 3D model parts and assemblies and create 2D drawings “for manufacture” of platform structures (retractable and fixed).
  • Value engineer and incorporate aesthetic improvements to the retractable system while ensuring safety and compliance with loading force standard Site, Client and Supplier Collaboration:
  • Survey complex sites and liaise with clients’ architects and senior site teams to agree on necessary changes to standard CAD models.
  • Adapt standard CAD models and drawings to suit individual site circumstances.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration for all project related matters.
  • Design Changes and Quality Assurance:
  • Process design changes, update drawings, and manage drawing revision and registration.
  • Work with R&D, Quality, and Operations departments, as well as suppliers, to establish manufacturing controls, testing procedures, and quality documentation.
  • New Product Development:
  • Generate part and product specifications, product manuals, and assembly instructions.
  • Rationalise product lines and introduce new products in conjunction with management and sales.
  • Manage new product costing, prototyping, tooling, part and assembly design, BOMs, drawings, and packaging.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration:
  • Lead communication with Sales and other departments to schedule support for sales and design tasks.
  • Manage and support the creation of design aspects of project/tender presentations.
  • Support the development of marketing materials, sales literature, and client presentations for Sales.
  • Supplier and Material Research:
  • Research and visit potential new and existing suppliers.
  • Lead the research of new materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Manage suppliers during New Product Introduction.
  • Process and Workflow Development:
  • Support the development of design process methodologies and interdepartmental information transfer and workflow.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of in-house design styles and product brand identities.
  • Team Leadership and Problem-Solving:
  • Provide inspiration, mentoring, and motivation to the Design team.
  • Cultivate strong problem-solving skills and culture.
  • Resolve design and manufacturing issues promptly to maintain project schedules and budgets.
  • Health and Safety Compliance:
  • Adhere to all health and safety requirements and relevant industry/international standards.
  • Achieve all required construction related certifications
  • Technical and Sales Support:
  • Provide technical support for sales, design, engineering, and installation.
  • Assist with installation problem-solving.
  • Support the creation of quotations and compilation of ordering requirements.
  • Strategic Contribution:
  • Contribute to the company’s overall growth strategy.
  • Essential Qualifications:
  • BSc in Engineering (Mechanical or Civil).
  • SolidWorks experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of fabrication experience.
  • Experience working within a project environment.
  • Car Owner/Driver
  • Desirable Qualifications:
  • DriveWorks experience.
  • PDM experience.
  • Structural steel design experience.
  • Project management experience in construction.
