DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST/SENIOR DEVELOPMENT SCIENTIST – MOLECULAR MICROBIOLOGY, IN VITRO DIAGNOSTICS

Our client is entering the next phase in its expansion strategy and now seeks an experienced Scientist to undertake development of microbial IVD test products at its premises in Oxfordshire.
The role will involve a range of microbiological techniques (e.g. aseptic technique, microbial culture), molecular biological techniques (e.g. pipetting, PCR, microbial physiology) and translation of manual test to automated systems. An appropriate level of general skills and knowledge is expected and training will be provided where required. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the day-to-day running of the laboratory, (SOP writing, record keeping, risk assessments etc.) and will require good communication skills. Limited travel (domestic and some international) may be required for conferences or site visits. For the Senior role experimental design and execution and managing a small number of staff will be expected.
Candidates should be qualified to at least BSc level in a relevant discipline (e.g. molecular biology or microbiology). Experience of microbiology and DNA amplification/detection methods would be advantageous. Experience or an understanding the principles of ISO 13485 would be appropriate.
