Description:
ECF Engineering Consultants is currently seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Building Services Group. As an experienced senior level engineer, this candidate must have the depth and expertise to manage, direct, mentor and supervise the day to day work on projects. This position reports to the Building Services Director and is responsible for overseeing and performing electrical engineering and related activities associated with Building Services Group projects.
The majority of the work involves electrical design for new and/or renovations of commercial, industrial and municipal type facilities. Position will require a majority of time of engineering work with a balance of time on project management.
Position will include Project Management responsibilities, including establishing and management of project budgets and technical responsibilities. Candidate will be responsible for report writing, project client deliverables and project quality control. Position will require participation in presentations, external client contacts and project meetings. This position requires a dependable self-starter with the ability to work is a team oriented environment. Candidate must keep abreast of new methods and developments within the industry.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- 8 - 10 years of experience in engineering of buildings and related projects.
- Strong knowledge of power and lighting systems including photometric calculations.
- Must possess good technical and engineering design/planning skills, computer and financial/project management skills.
- Must be experienced in design of 15kv, 5kv and 600 volt and smaller electrical systems including sizing and specifying emergency and standby generator systems.
- Must be experienced in design of power infrastructure and power distribution for horizontal and vertical public utilities.
- Strong engineering experience to include lighting and power distribution systems, complete load calculations, panel board and switchgear sizing for various types of projects including commercial, industrial, institutional, educational and retail construction projects.
- Power distribution systems, telecommunications/data planning, building automation systems and fire alarm systems.
- Responsible for design of power, controls and lighting systems, including complete load calculations and lighting layouts with photometrics calculations.
- Engineer will be expected to review each assigned project with Project Manager and provide input and support to them throughout the duration of the project.
- Be able to complete procurement specifications for all materials such as wiring, conduit, electrical equipment and components.
- Oversee and be responsible for designing systems for the project within estimated company budgets.
- Work with architects, other engineering disciplines, client and vendors to manage the overall project.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in related field from an accredited university.
- Electrical Professional Engineer’s license desired (State of Florida).
- Strong understanding and knowledge of industry codes including NEC, Life Safety Code NFPA 101, NFPA 70/70E, IEEE and International Building Code.
- Experience with AutoCAD (REVIT) and Microsoft Office products required.
- Strong analytical and management skills
- Willingness to travel for site surveys, project scope walks and meetings.
