Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Group Financial Services (GFS) team is part of the Corporate Accounting, Reporting & Analysis (CARA) team. The CARA team has end to end responsibility for the accounts of 30+ Head Office companies; these companies represent holding (investment), financing, tax-structured and insurance entities, as well as operating cost centres, in multiple currencies.
The GFS team has responsibility for Treasury accounting, reporting & analysis for CRH Group.
The team is currently implementing several process changes to enhance reporting and further strengthen the control environment. The Senior Financial Accountant will play a key role within the team and will be responsible for day-to-day accounting as well as ensuring that monthly management and quarterly financial reporting processes are delivered on a timely and accurate basis. The role provides an opportunity to liaise with Senior Group Management, interaction with Divisions and Operating Companies and implement process enhancement where possible.
EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
You are/have:
- Professional accounting qualification with at least 3 years post qualification experience
- A good knowledge of accounting standards and policies and ability to interpret and apply knowledge
- Treasury background/experience would be advantageous
Responsibilities:
KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
In this role, you will:
- Assist with monthly management and quarterly financial reporting requirements
- Assist with the budgeting and forecasting process for Treasury related transactions
- Managing the flow of information and maintaining a close liaison with the Group Treasury and Group Finance functions, ensuring that both routine and significant transactions (bonds, derivatives, cash, interest etc.) are accounted for appropriately
- Maintaining a very strong control environment
- Liaising with internal and external auditors for Group, Statutory and SOX audits
- Participation on Treasury/Group Finance related projects on an ad hoc basis
- Continuous process improvement to enhance information needs
