Role: Senior Manager, Sustainability - Carbon Footprint
Primary Job Location: (USA) Will need to be currently located in or willing to relocate to the Atlanta, Georgia area.

Travel: This role requires up to 35% travel with a minimum of 3 days a week in the office (Tues, Wed, Thur).

What You’ll Do for Us:

  • The scope of the role is Operating Unit (OU) operational sustainability leadership including water, carbon/climate.
  • The role has direct impact and influence over the development of the most optimum OU sustainability strategy and implementation plan in line with the global sustainability strategy and TCCS sustainability commitments for Carbon/Climate.
  • The Sustainability Manager position is a key connection to leverage the company sustainability initiatives in the context of customer opportunities to develop and grow the business through collaborative, value building sustainability activities. Working closely with the Sustainability strategy team and technical SMEs, and KO account teams to identify and develop opportunities to strengthen relationships, grow sales and win new business.
  • This role will need to work with key customers, KO Account Teams, Strategic Marketing, bottler account teams, and NA & Global PACS/Sustainability to collaboratively develop and execute a comprehensive strategy that includes activation and communications that increase or retain sales. This role will also support the North America Carbon/Climate processes and report on environmental metrics.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Sustainability leadership experience in leading large-scale transformation programs, change management.
  • Proven successful track record in leading diverse teams. > 7+ years in key sustainability roles.

The Sustainability Director will operate and lead as an indispensable member of the OU TI&SC leadership team. As a sustainability leader role reporting directly to OU Quality, Safety, and Environment (QSE) and will also be a member of the OU One Sustainability team with clear responsibility to coordinate the end-to-end technical sustainability agenda cross functionally across QSE, PACS and the OU Franchise teams. The following areas define the key focus of the role:

  • Technical sustainability strategy: As a key member of the OU TI&SC team ensure within the global sustainability strategy and commitments the most optimum and accelerated implementation of the OU sustainability strategy. Define and steward the OU technical sustainability strategy, commitments, initiatives, and prioritization to implement the OU growth agenda. Ensure accelerated progress of sustainability commitments on carbon/climate while ensuring OU sustainability-by-design leadership in innovation and across the supply chain. In collaboration with the PACS and OU sustainability leads influence the global and regional sustainability agenda and investments.
  • Develop OU TI&SC Sustainability strategy, enable implementation of the strategy, monitor the internal and external trends.
  • Develop carbon modelling, emission projections across the 5 pillars of Ingredients, Packaging, Cold Drink Equipment, Manufacturing and Distribution. Determine interventions needed and technical feasibility of such interventions. Deliver carbon glide path with clear y-o-y guidance on progress.
  • Execute sustainability engagement and technical advocacy with customer teams to identify and evaluate potential customer partnership opportunities aligned with the Operating Unit’s strategy and ambitions.
  • Serve as the customer lead for technical sustainability to provide support for the networked organization and customer reporting requests (i.e. familiarity and/or experience with The Sustainability Consortium’s THESIS reporting platform, EcoVadis, and other notable sustainability reporting tools).
  • Technical management of customer and asset partner sustainability projects and annual engagements (i.e. technical lead for College & University Business Case competition, biennial Customer Sustainability Summit, collaborative business planning etc.)
  • Build capability of sustainability initiatives and be able to articulate our full sustainability story in a way that inspires our customers (packaging/recovery/energy/climate/water/sustainable agriculture).
  • Serve as NA point of contact for environmental/carbon/climate related reporting, action planning and initiatives to achieve the NAOU SBT.
  • Import solutions and tangible actions we and our customers can take to become industry leading.
  • Governance, compliance: Ensure all license to operate and KORE sustainability requirements on climate and carbon, OU governance are in place in line with the global governance framework requirements.
  • Innovation: Ensure the technical sustainability innovation pipeline, technical sustainability agenda is in place, drive top and bottom-line growth and create competitive advantage. Lead the implementation support for all technical operational sustainability aspects that protects and enhances our regional and corporate reputation.
  • OU sustainability network orchestration: Drive organizational alignment on operational sustainability across OUs-Bottling partners and corporate QSE. Active contributor and decision maker in the Global Environmental Council. Champion KO System sustainability and overall QSE Culture and Strategies to enable business growth. Bring the external view in, drive external engagement and benchmarking, ensure leadership presence in industry associations
