WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will be based in our Atlanta office as part of our GCI team.
GCI is a small, entrepreneurial and growing Solution practice within McKinsey & Company, which provides rigorous analytics, unrivaled deep insights, benchmarking and consulting services to clients in retail and commercial banking, and the payments industry (https://www.mckinsey.com/industries/financial-services/how-we-help-clients/gci-analytics/overview).
Clients secure our expertise and data-driven insights to evaluate total bank wide and line of business performance and to make strategic and operational improvements, front-line decision around sales excellence and productivity, innovation and product development decisions, and capability building. We are a wholly owned subsidiary of McKinsey and Company and operate both within McKinsey client service teams and also independently in an agile, start-up environment under our own brand and management team.
You will work on Growth & Productivity and develop benchmarks to provide banking industry expertise and leverage the same to run and deliver our growth and productivity knowledge assets. You will work closely with internal senior McKinsey colleagues and external senior C-suite clients.
Growth & Productivity is a survey of 50+ banks in the US and Canada that we have been running since 2017. It covers bank-wide performance assessment across multiple LOBs, functions and spend areas.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Undergraduate degree; post-graduate degree is a plus
  • 4+ years of post-degree work experience
  • 2+ years of experience in banking/financial services, with accounting and banking knowledge preferred
  • Advanced Excel, VBA skills; high proficiency in MS PowerPoint
  • Working knowledge or experience with Jira/Confluence, data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau) and statistics preferred
  • Strong project management skills, with a hands-on, action-oriented style
  • Strong aptitude for analytics; high degree of resourcefulness, creativity snd proactivity in problem-solving and data analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to iterate on complex problems independently; ability to raise issues and generate solutions
  • Strong entrepreneurial drive, track-record as self-starter and able to manage high-capacity workload
  • Ability to work with senior clients and team members to build trust-based relationship; flexibility and ability to build consensus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and delivery schedules under tight timelines and in a fluid environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills; ability to build counsellor relationships with colleagues at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written English skills

Responsibilities:

You will interface directly with senior clients to support the use of their data in our benchmarks and generate action-oriented insights, working closely with GCI data and system engineers.
In this role, you will perform detailed and high-quality reviews of the insights generated and deliverables created. You will also be responsible for preparing and presenting the benchmark results, insights and strategic recommendations to senior client executives and sponsors. You will onboard new clients and new team members as well as build long-term relationships with new and existing clients.
As your tenure on the team grows, you will become involved in designing and building new data assets. You will be involved in consulting engagement models and/or design other capabilities from/for the benchmark on which you serve. You will leverage your industry and functional expertise to provide guidance to your team, address queries from internal McKinsey colleagues, and from time to time, work on consulting projects as an expert on call.
